About Sidewalkdude

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in the very late 70's, Sidewalkdude has had the pleasure and privilege of living in several cities across the globe: from San Jose, Costa Rica, to Seville, Spain, to Easton, Pennsylvania. In each city, Sidewalkdude has made efforts to immerse himself in the culture of local people--their language, architecture, food, history, and nightlife.

Crazy Beautiful City, Sidewalkdude's blog, was created to document city spaces and the everyday experiences happening in and around them.

Sidewalkdude believes photography is the most fun, engaging and productive way to explore and understand a place.  His photographs are not meant to be judged on the merits of their technical composition, but rather on the scene itself. What is Sidewalkdude saying through his photographs? Hint: probably has lots to do with space, how it is used, and the users themselves.

Sidewalkdude is intrigued by urban space--parks, plazas, streets, alleyways, rooftops, sidewalks--and wants to know how it is  built, discovered, appropriated, managed, used, and altered.

For the past eight years, Sidewalkdude has worked and lived in Brooklyn, New York, as an urban planner and downtown manager. He studied urban planning and design at Pratt Institute.
